Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat toothpaste should I use?
Whatever toothpaste you like. If you like the flavor you will probably brush longer. You should brush for two minutes twice a day. What insurance plans do you participate with?
We participate with Teamsters, Met Life, and Delta premiere, and CIGNA.
There are many other insurance plans that allow you to go to whatever doctor you want. However some plans require you to go to a preferred provider. Call your insurance prior to scheduling an appointment. How often should I go to the dentist for professional cleanings?
Everyone should see their dentist at a minimum of once every six months. Some individuals with other oral problems need to be seen more frequently. We have many patients who are seen every three or four months. This can only be determined by your dentist. What is a crown?
A crown is a dental restoration. It is usually made of porcelain and it restores (fixes) a tooth that has large existing fillings or extensive decay. Please watch the video on CEREC restorations. We are now able to make crowns in a single visit. What is a root canal?
A root canal, also known as endodontic therapy, is a procedure done on a tooth that is causing severe pain, is infected, or is dead.
A tooth has minor blood supply, so once bacteria invades the inside of the tooth from decay the tooth cannot heal itself. We need to remove the nerve and blood vessels and disinfect the inside of the tooth to keep it from getting infected. This allows a tooth to be saved that would otherwise need to be extracted. Why do root canal teeth need crowns?
A tooth that had a root canal needs to be restored properly. This normally means a crown, but in some instances an onlay or a partial crown is sufficient to restore it. An “endodontically” treated tooth is more brittle and if it is not fixed within a short period of time after having the root canal it may break. We therefore recommend restoring the tooth within two weeks after completing the root canal. What are your hours?
Our office hours vary based on the season, but we do offer evening hours on Monday and Tuesday and we are here at eight in the morning four days a week. Saturday hours are also available. Please call to check on availability.
